Vanilla Bedrock combat usually devolves into mindlessly spam-clicking your attack button until either your target dies or your screen breaks. If you prefer the tactical, timing-based combat of the Java Edition, this addon perfectly replicates that entire system. It introduces the iconic weapon cooldown meter right beneath your crosshair. Instead of spamming, you have to pace your strikes. If you wait for the bar to fill while holding a sword, your strike triggers a sweeping edge attack that damages multiple nearby mobs at once, which is an absolute game-changer for clearing out cramped mob farms. Axes also get their proper Java overhaul, turning them into heavy hitters that deal significantly more damage than swords but take much longer to recharge between swings.
The creator didn't just stop at weapons, either. Shields have been completely reworked to match Java mechanics. They no longer aggressively push you backward when you block a hit, the visual blocking animation has been fixed, and they can finally block charged mace attacks properly. The absolute best feature is the dynamic compatibility. The scripts actually read the underlying item stats, meaning this entire Java cooldown and damage system automatically works with custom weapons from other add-ons without requiring any manual configuration files.
Because this pack fundamentally rewrites how the Bedrock engine calculates weapon damage, potion modifiers like Strength and Weakness, and shield collision, it operates as a heavy behavior pack. As a direct result, applying it to your world will permanently disable your Xbox Live achievements. You also absolutely must go into your world options and toggle on the Beta APIs Experimental Gameplay switch before loading your save. If you skip that developer toggle, the background scripts will fail to initialize, meaning the cooldown UI won't render beneath your crosshair and your sweep attacks will not trigger.
From a performance standpoint, the engine handles the real-time combat math surprisingly well. Tracking the UI cooldown meter and reading item stats takes very little memory. If you are playing on a PC or a modern console, combat feels incredibly snappy, responsive, and native to the game. However, if you are playing on an older budget smartphone and you trigger a sword sweep attack inside a tiny room crammed with fifty zombies, forcing the game to instantly calculate all that simultaneous area-of-effect damage will definitely cause a sudden frame stutter. Outside of extreme mob-farm situations, it runs beautifully and completely revitalizes the Bedrock survival experience.
