New Maces Overhaul Mod — five themed maces built around fall-damage-style “Smash” hits where the higher you drop, the harder everything pops off.

New Maces Overhaul Mod is for players who don’t want combat to feel like endless left-clicking until something stops moving. The whole add-on is based on a simple idea that instantly changes how you fight: every mace uses a “Smash” mechanic where your damage, knockback, and the weapon’s special effects scale with your fall height. So instead of just trading hits on flat ground, you start thinking about elevation like it’s part of your loadout. Ledges, stairs, cliffs, towers, even a quick hop off a block can turn into a bigger hit, and when you actually commit to a drop, the impact feels like a real moment instead of just another swing.

The arsenal is five maces, each with its own theme and personality. Thunder Mace is all about controlled chaos, summoning delayed lightning bolts that strike the ground around your target after you land the hit. It’s the kind of weapon that makes you line up a smash on a packed group and then enjoy the follow-up strikes hitting the area. Blaze Mace leans aggressive, incinerating enemies with fire that scales in duration and backing it up with explosive fiery blasts, so the harder you smash, the more it feels like you’re detonating the fight. Demon Mace goes full dark mode, hitting targets with Wither II and dumping dense dark-gray smoke, which makes every impact look nasty and keeps pressure on enemies even after you land. Diamond Mace flips the script into defense, turning impact intensity into survivability by giving you Resistance and Absorption based on how hard you slam in. Rascal Mace is the “steal the tempo” pick: it hits enemies with heavy Slowness while giving you Speed II, so you can smash in, cripple their movement, and immediately play the spacing game like you own the arena.

What’s cool is that these aren’t “once in a while” gimmicks. New Maces Overhaul Mod makes the abilities always-on, meaning the unique effects trigger on every hit, but their strength and duration scale massively with fall distance. That keeps the maces feeling consistent—every swing does the thing you picked it for—while still rewarding you for using height and momentum. Add in impact physics with area-of-effect knockback that pushes nearby enemies away from the impact site, and you end up with fights that naturally spread out and reset, instead of turning into a tight clump where everyone’s just trading hits.

The visuals are also a big part of the identity here, with custom high-quality geometry particles meant to make each smash look like a highlight clip. And if you’re the type who likes flexing stats, the Mace Records system gives you an actual reason to chase ridiculous drops. You can craft the Mace Records Book using 1 Book and 1 Gold Ingot to open a custom UI menu, track the highest “Power Intensity” ever achieved in your world, and see detailed stats like the player name, exact damage, fall height, and even the target type for the record hit. When someone breaks the record, it triggers a global celebration message, which is basically the add-on calling you out like, “yeah, that smash counted.” New Maces Overhaul Mod turns vertical space into a weapon, and once you start playing like that, flat-ground fighting feels kinda boring.
