Exploring massive caves early in a survival playthrough is super annoying when you cannot see the ceiling. Instead of wasting stacks of torches just to figure out if a distant block is iron ore or just regular stone, the Spylight addon completely solves the issue by turning your vanilla spyglass into a fully functioning dynamic flashlight. Point it anywhere in the dark, and a beam of light perfectly follows your line of sight.
Dynamic Lighting and Vision
The core mechanic runs perfectly in real-time. Simply holding the spyglass instantly casts a maximum brightness light block exactly where your crosshair rests, whether you are scanning high cave ceilings or trying to see the bottom of a deep ocean ravine. The second you put the tool away in your inventory, the projected light vanishes seamlessly. If you actually use the item to zoom in, the addon kicks it up a notch by applying a clean, particle-free night vision effect, letting you scout out massive underground caverns or distant mob spawns with absolute clarity.
Early Game Access and Custom Aesthetics
To make this actually useful right when you load into a new world, the developer completely overhauled the vanilla crafting recipe. You no longer have to blindly dig around hoping to stumble into a rare amethyst geode; you can just craft the modified spyglass using a simple glass pane, making it an essential day-one utility item. The download also includes an optional visual resource pack that completely remodels the item into a proper 3D flashlight and completely removes that annoying black vignette border from your screen when you zoom. Best of all, it functions entirely on standard mechanics, meaning you can drop it onto your main survival realm and still unlock all of your official achievements.
