The Ore Detector add-on provides a targeted, localized scanning mechanic as an alternative to permanent X-ray texture packs. Instead of globally altering block rendering, it uses a handheld item to ping the surrounding 16-block radius for specific resources.
Targeting and Visual Feedback
Sneak-clicking the detector opens a UI to select your target, ranging from specific Overworld and Nether ores to macro-filters like "Valuable and Rare Ores" (which groups Diamond, Gold, Emerald, and Ancient Debris). The selected filter is saved directly to the item, allowing you to carry multiple pre-configured detectors in your hotbar. When fired, it generates a colored holographic trail and directional indicators that pinpoint the exact distance, bearing, and relative Y-level of the nearest matching vein.
Client and Server Optimization
Running localized block checks can normally tank server TPS, especially in multiplayer when several people spam the item simultaneously. To prevent this, the add-on automatically distributes the area scan calculations across multiple game ticks. This keeps the backend script lightweight and prevents tick lag or framerate drops during heavy caving sessions.
Installation:
— Download McPack
— Install McAddon or McPack files, just open it for this;
— Select new textures in the settings;
— Done.
