If you have ever watched Rick and Morty and wished you could just shoot a green portal into a wall to instantly escape a terrible situation, this add-on brings that exact fantasy to Bedrock. The Portal Gun Addon does not just give you a fancy reskinned bow; it introduces fully functional, dimension-hopping portals. You can craft the gun, brew custom portal fluid to keep it charged, and shoot portals that adapt to walls, floors, or even mid-air. You can link multiple locations, travel directly to different dimensions, and even use the connected portals to completely negate lethal fall damage. It includes multiple gun skins, including the iconic Rick and Morty design, alongside other aesthetic accessories to complete the look.
Because this add-on fundamentally rewrites how teleportation, entity tracking, and cross-dimension travel work in the Bedrock engine, it operates as a heavy behavior pack. As a direct result, applying this to your world will permanently disable your Xbox Live achievements. Getting it running also requires some mandatory setup before you load your save. You must go into your world settings and toggle on the Experimental Gameplay features, specifically the Beta APIs. If you skip those developer switches, the custom portal fluid crafting won't function, and the background scripts that calculate your teleportation coordinates will completely fail.
From a performance standpoint, rendering custom animated portals and instantly loading chunks across different dimensions puts a massive strain on your hardware. If you are playing on a modern PC or a high-end console, you can rapidly hop through dimensions without much issue. However, if you are playing on an older budget smartphone, the game will seriously struggle to load the portal textures and process the sudden chunk updates. In fact, the creator actually included a specific setting in the resource pack to manually lower the portal animation framerate to prevent the textures from breaking and rendering as black squares on weaker devices. It is an incredibly fun and chaotic mod, but you definitely need to respect your hardware's limitations before opening too many gateways.
