The Sift Dimension Addon

Mods / Mods 26 [1.26]

The Minecraft community never waits for official releases. Following the reveal of "The Sift" dimension at Minecraft Live 2026, this add-on attempts to recreate that vibrant spirit-realm aesthetic directly inside Bedrock right now. The best part of this project isn't actually what's inside the dimension yet—since it's still in a very early, barebones beta—but rather how you get there. It finally gives a functional purpose to the giant reinforced deepslate frame in the Deep Dark. You have to survive an Ancient City, clear the sculk away from the frame, and ignite it with flint and steel to open the gateway. It's a fantastic concept for endgame exploration, even if the dimension itself is currently a bit empty.

Because this add-on attempts to inject a completely custom dimension into the game’s core code, the technical requirements are strict. The moment you apply these behavior and resource packs to your world, Xbox Live achievements are permanently disabled. Earning Gamerscore is completely off the table. More importantly, you have to dig into your world settings and toggle Experimental Gameplay features, specifically ensuring the Beta APIs are active. If you skip those developer switches, lighting the Ancient City portal will do absolutely nothing, and the custom `/the_sift:travel` bypass command will fail. Since this is a volatile beta, you should absolutely run this on a backup save rather than your main survival world to avoid file corruption.

Hardware performance is the biggest roadblock here. Bedrock natively struggles with custom dimension generation, and because this add-on's world generation math is still heavily unoptimized, the engine has to work overtime. Modern desktop PCs and current-gen consoles can brute-force their way through the slow chunk loading, but older budget smartphones and low-end tablets will hit a massive processing wall. Stepping through the portal on a weaker mobile chip will instantly tank your tick rate, causing the dimension to load painfully slow, chunk-by-chunk, while your device quickly heats up. If you are playing on a phone, dial your render and simulation distances down to the absolute minimum before lighting the portal to prevent the game from freezing entirely during the transition.
