Drop into a fresh Bedrock world and you’ll feel the shift the first time you see that ruby glint in a cave wall. Ruby spawns rarely in stone and deepslate veins, so treat it like a mid-game prize rather than day-one gear. The tools don’t accept normal enchants, which is the whole point; each one has a baked-in trick that’s strong in the right moment and mid if you try to force it everywhere. The sword plays like a finisher. Clean up a mob and you get Strength II for seven seconds on a cooldown, which turns chain fights into highlight reels if you route smart. On survival runs, I open with bow taps or axe crits, then swap to ruby sword to secure the first kill and ride the buff through the pack. In raids or dungeon corridors on Realms, call your team to feed you the opener and let you snowball; when the timer ends, back off, reset, repeat.

The pickaxe is a stone-chewer with a very specific lane. It’s crazy durable and flies through regular stone, but it drags on deepslate and ore blocks. That means it’s perfect for tunnel carving, base hollowing, and nether hub scaffolding, while you keep a standard iron/diamond/netherite pick for the actual ore breaks. Hotbar the ruby pick for speed, swap to your ore breaker for the money blocks, and your mining sessions run way cleaner. The shovel is the opposite kind of specialist; it’s faster than Netherite Eff III on dirt and similar, and then hilariously useless on sand. Use it to terraform plains and forests, lay roads, and rip farmland expansions without draining durability, but don’t bring it to a beach job unless you like suffering. The axe comes with “Weight of the Dead,” a right-click aura that freezes players and mobs in a six-block circle while locking you out of attacking. That’s a control tool, not DPS. Drop it to catch runners in PvP, to pin a raid captain so your friends land crits, or to save a villager from a dogpile, then cancel and swap weapons once your squad is in position. The hoe’s durable and waiting on a future role, so for now it’s your zero-maintenance farm tool you forget about—in a good way.

Ender gear is where exploration turns buttery. Craft the Ender Pearl Launcher with ruby, sticks, and pearls, and it fires micro-ender pearls that blink you to the landing spot and give five seconds of invisibility. Keep a stack of micros by crafting four pearls into sixteen; pair the launcher with elytra or rooftop paths in city maps and you’ll move like a speedrunner even on mobile. In the Nether, use micro hops to cross gaps without overcommitting to risky bridges, and pop the stealth to shake piglin heat while you reload. Just remember invis doesn’t make you a ghost—mobs still punish bad landings—so plan your exits.



Armor finally looks the part with the reworked ruby textures, and the full-set passive hits when it matters. “Guardian of the Ruby” procs at four hearts or less, giving you Resistance II, Fire Resistance, and Water Breathing, then goes on a thirty-minute cooldown. Treat it like an airbag. It saves greedy plays in lava caves, buys time during boss staggers, and lets you finish a clutch ladder climb out of a flooded shaft. Don’t rely on it every fight; mark the cooldown mentally or with a quick timer so you don’t assume it’s there and faceplant.

What makes Ruby & Relic land is the balance philosophy. Nothing’s “OP ruby gear.” Every piece is strong in its lane and mid outside it, which keeps survival honest and PvP readable. On servers, it’s perfect content: route sword windows for cleanup, assign your control player the aura axe, let your builder sprint terraforms with the shovel, and give your scout the pearl launcher so rotations actually happen.
