You don’t need dev-mode tricks or weird workarounds; you pop open a crafting table, convert what you need, and keep moving. Because achievements stay enabled, it’s safe for long-term worlds and Realms where nobody wants to flip the “cheats” switch just to make a palette work. That single change lands hard the first time you renovate a starter base and realize your castle gate, sewer tunnel, and garden wall can each have their own age and weathering without juggling packs or commands.

On day one, think gradient. Keep your core block as the backbone, then dust in a few mossy pieces near water lines, planters, and shady corners, and slip cracked variants into “stress points” like doorways, stair treads, and arch keystones.
