Rideable Monsters Addon

Mods / Mods 26 [1.26]

Sprinting across the plains on a standard horse is fine, but pulling up to your friend's base on the back of a giant, tamed spider is just infinitely cooler. This addon does exactly what it says on the tin, letting you convert hostile mobs into your own personal mounts. The developer made it very clear that this is strictly for the creepy crawlies and nocturnal threats—so don't expect to be throwing saddles on random pigs or turtles. Feeding raw chicken to a spider to earn its trust, and then actually utilizing its custom jump mechanics to vault over terrain, completely changes how you navigate the map.

Since you are rewriting actual mob behaviors and adding brand-new taming mechanics, this functions as a full-blown add-on rather than a basic texture swap. When generating your map, you absolutely have to remember to switch on the experimental gameplay toggles in the settings, otherwise, you will literally just be throwing poultry at very angry spiders. Tinkering with the game's AI like this does mean your vanilla Xbox Live achievements will get locked for that specific save. It is definitely a mod built for pure sandbox fun and creating chaotic custom servers rather than a strict, trophy-hunting playthrough.

Splicing new taming systems onto existing hostile AI can sometimes make entities act super jittery, but the riding controls here feel remarkably fluid. The creator kept the backend code clean so that steering these creatures doesn't crush the server's memory. You can easily organize a massive monster cavalry charge with your friends without everyone's screen turning into a freezing slideshow. It handles the custom movement perfectly across all platforms, letting console and mobile users keep up just fine when leaping over ravines on their newly tamed nightmares.
