Knives Out Mod — cheap, scrappy blades for when your world is broke but you still need to stab something.
Knives Out Mod is all about that early–game panic moment in Minecraft Bedrock where night is falling, you’ve got almost no materials, and a full sword feels way too expensive. Instead of running around with your fists or a wooden stick, this addon lets you craft knives that cost about half of what a normal sword does. In return, they hit for about half the damage, so you’re not getting some busted weapon here, just a smart “better than nothing” option that fits perfectly into those first few in–game days. It feels exactly like grabbing a backup blade in a real survival situation: light, disposable, and good enough to keep zombies out of your face.
Once you’re actually playing with it, Knives Out Mod changes how you handle progression. Instead of waiting until you’ve hoarded enough resources for a “proper” sword, you can throw together a knife as soon as you get your hands on a few basic materials. That means your first cave run, your first night outside, and your early farming sessions don’t have to be fist–only or axe–only. You can take a knife as your main weapon, then upgrade to a sword later without feeling like you wasted anything, because these things are cheap by design. They slot perfectly into the gap between “I just spawned” and “I have a full kit,” and they’re great as throwaway tools when you don’t want to risk losing your best gear.
On SMPs, Realms, and MCPE servers, the knives are surprisingly useful. If you run community worlds where people spawn in a lot, it’s super easy to set up starter chests loaded with food, a bit of armor, and a couple of knives instead of full swords. New players get something that can actually defend them without you handing out overpowered gear. In PvP mini–games, they make fun sidearms: fast, cheap weapons you give to everyone at the start of a round, while the big swords and axes are reserved as loot in chests. Because Knives Out Mod sticks to the simple rule of “half the cost, half the damage,” it feels balanced, intuitive, and very survival–friendly. You’re still going to swap to a real sword when it’s boss time, but for day–to–day exploring, mining runs, and early–game scrapping, having a pocket knife in Minecraft Bedrock feels way better than punching everything and hoping for the best.
