Raiyon's Dynamic Lightning Minecraft addon dynamic lighting from blocks, torches and objects.
Most Bedrock players are used to spamming a trail of torches every three blocks just to see the floor of a cave. Raiyon's Dynamic Lightning completely modernizes exploration by letting you hold a light source—like a standard torch, glowstone, or lava bucket—in your main hand or off-hand to naturally illuminate your surroundings as you walk. The immersion goes beyond just holding items, though; mobs like glowing octopuses, burning entities, and creepers about to explode actively cast dynamic light around them. With additional crafting options like wearable miner helmets and the new Sea Torch for underwater exploration, it effectively eliminates the tedious inventory micromanagement of standard vanilla mining.
The biggest hurdle for Bedrock lighting mods is usually the massive scripting baggage, but this add-on manages a shockingly clean implementation. The moment you apply this behavior and resource pack combo to your save, your Xbox Live achievements remain completely active. You can use dynamic lighting on a long-term survival world without sacrificing your Gamerscore. Even better, you do not need to dive into your world settings to manually enable Experimental Gameplay toggles or activate Beta APIs; everything works natively right out of the box. The only optional configuration is utilizing the "Vibrant Visuals" support, which allows specific items, like Redstone torches, to cast realistically tinted colored lighting.
While the setup is flawless, hardware performance is where dynamic lighting shows its teeth on the Bedrock engine. Because the game does not natively support moving point lights outside of technical previews, the add-on fakes the effect by rapidly calculating light block updates at your exact coordinates every time you take a step. Modern desktop PCs and current-gen consoles have the processing overhead to handle these constant updates smoothly. However, if you are playing on an older budget smartphone or low-end tablet, walking with a torch will cause immediate screen stuttering. Having multiple players or burning entities updating light sources simultaneously in the same loaded chunk will quickly overwhelm a mobile processor, causing severe tick lag and thermal throttling. If you are exploring on a phone, avoid sprinting with a torch in hand to give the chunk updates time to catch up.
