Your Friend Verity Addon

Mods / Mods 26 [1.26]

The "Your Friend Verity" .mcaddon introduces a highly volatile, tameable companion entity into standard Bedrock survival. Instead of a passive wolf or cat that just trails behind you, this behavior pack drops a custom mob into underground cave systems that acts as both a powerful combat ally and a constant, lethal threat. By hooking into complex target-tracking and camera-angle scripts, the pack forces you to completely alter how you navigate your world while the entity is in your loaded chunks.

Line-of-Sight Tracking and Combat AI
Verity operates on a heavily modified taming system. Spawning exclusively in low-light, subterranean cave generation, the entity can be domesticated using a range of standard vanilla minerals, including diamonds, emeralds, iron, gold, or copper ingots. Once tamed, it utilizes standard minecraft:behavior.follow_owner and target-sharing routines to aggressively help you clear out hostile mobs. However, the technical standout of this pack is its custom line-of-sight aggression mechanic. The entity's scripts run a constant check against your player's view vector. If you turn your back on Verity, the background logic instantly forces a behavior state shift, overriding its tamed status and triggering an attack phase against you. This means you can't just sprint blindly through a mineshaft with your pet in tow; you have to physically backpedal and constantly manage your camera placement to keep the entity docile.

Optimization and World Setup
Because this addon completely relies on continuous player-tracking scripts, custom underground spawn rules, and dynamic behavior state overrides, you absolutely must toggle on the required Experimental Gameplay features in your world settings before loading the save file. Calculating the player's exact camera vector relative to a custom entity's coordinates every few ticks is inherently intensive for the Bedrock engine. While the underlying script loops are optimized to prevent server lockups, attempting to tame and manage multiple Verity entities simultaneously in a single chunk will heavily increase the calculation load. To prevent client-side frame drops (FPS) and preserve your overall server TPS, keep your companion count low, especially if you are hosting the world on a mobile device or a base-model console.
